Hovuna was an Old World Dumping Ground

If you've ever been curious enough (and willing to risk a visit from a bricking agent) you may have went looking for images of the Old World, particularly its technology. If you have seen enough, you may have noticed something strange. Technological images from Hovuna show significantly more decay than the technology in images from known old-world formerly-colonized planets. Government officials typically attribute this disparity to age, climate, or poor preservation. The evidence suggests otherwise. Hovuna is chalk full of Old World technology, what is not well known is that all of it was undesirable, used, and deemed garbage to our old-world predecessors. The modern world exists atop a landfill of imperial proportions.

The Last Closed Ecosystem

A year ago the ground began to tremble. Six months ago you felt light for the first time, and a shape move between. Today your species no longer exists. The obvious problem with this thought experiment is that it assumes the moths of the East-Palisade Sanctuary perceive time, danger, or extinction in anything resembling the human sense. Nevertheless, the exercise remains useful to our current paradigm. History is seldom kind to those experiencing it from the weaker side.

The Species Below: Scientific and Industrial Implications

Preface
I wrote this paper at sixteen years old, prior to the desecration of the East-Palisade Sanctuary. The species is now extinct, a direct result from opperation "Iron Sanctuary" lead by Recommunic Astrum Avital Anfas "TEC". At the time, my motivation was embarrassingly practical. I wanted funding. I wanted a future. More specifically, I wanted a position at Goldline and hoped that demonstrating the economic value of the species would accomplish what conservation arguments could not. As it did then, this project had merit today, just with a different point. What follows is reproduced in full, with only minor revisions and annotations.
